Rick Perry served as Secretary the Department of Energy and was the longest-serving governor of Texas from 2000 to 2015.
Governor Perry’s political career started in 1985, when he represented a rural West Texas district in the Texas House of Representatives. A 1972 graduate of Texas A&M University, where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets, he served as Texas Commissioner of Agriculture for two terms. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1972 to 1977, flying C-130 tactical airlift aircraft in the U.S., Europe and the Middle East.
