Anne R. Keene’s work has appeared in the New York Times, Dallas Morning News, Raleigh News & Observer and other major newspapers. Her book, The Cloudbuster Nine: The Untold Story of Ted Williams and the Baseball Team That Helped Win WWII, was a finalist for the Casey Award for the Best Baseball Book of 2018.

She is a recognized voice of America’s surviving major league players who served in the Second World War, penning players’ memories in essays carried in a variety of magazines from the Red Sox alumni newsletter, Diamond Days, to the Saturday Evening Post. She frequently speaks about military baseball to Naval Academy alumni chapters, major league baseball teams and fans clubs, as well as historical and civic organizations nationwide.

Keene is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s School of Journalism and has worked as a speechwriter on Capitol Hill and in a presidential administration. She is a member of the Society for American Baseball Research, the PBS-supported Texas Our Texas, and serves on the board of the Friends of Libraries & Archives of Texas. She lives in Austin with her family.
