Samuel M. Katz


Samuel M. Katz is the author of more than twenty books on Middle East security issues, terrorism, and police and military special operations.

The founder of Special Operations Report, he has appeared as an expert on networks ranging from BBC World News to Fox News to Al Jazeera. He is author most recently ofNo Shadows in the Desert: Murder, Vengeance, and Espionage in the War against ISIS. , (Hanover Square Press 2020). Coauthor with Nitsana Darshan-Leitner of Harpoon: Inside the Covert War Against Terrorism’s Money Masters (Hachette Books 2017), and with Fred Burton of the New York Times bestseller Under Fire: The Untold Story of the Attack in Benghazi (St. Martin’s 2013), he is also the author of The Ghost Warriors: Inside Israel’s Undercover War Against Suicide Terrorism (2015), Relentless Pursuit: The DSS and the Manhunt for the Al-Qaeda Terrorists, and The Hunt for the Engineer: How Israeli Agents Tracked the Hamas Master Bomber, .

His next book, Beirut Rules: The Murder of a CIA Station Chief and Hezbollah’s War Against America, coauthored with Fred Burton, will be published in November 2018 by Berkley.
