George Friedman is the founder and chairman of Geopolitical Futures, a global intelligence firm. His next book, The Storm Before the Calm: America’s Discord, the Coming Crisis of the 2020s, and the Triumph Beyond, will be published in February 2020.

Friedman is the author of numerous international bestsellers on geopolitics, most recently Flashpoints: The Emerging Crisis in Europe (Doubleday 2015). His other books are The Next Decade (2011) and The Next 100 Years: A Forecast for the 21st Century (2009) a runaway New York Times bestseller and has been translated into eighteen foreign languages. America’s Secret War (2004) detailed America’s covert and overt efforts in the global war against terrorism.

Friedman frequently appears on TV and radio and has been featured in Time, Wall Street Journal, New York Times Magazine, The New York Review of Books, and other leading publications. In 1994, he founded and was Director of the Center for Geopolitical Studies at Louisiana State University, and later founded Stratfor. He holds a Ph.D. in government from Cornell University.
